Loving my mistakes 💙 Experimenting with cyanot Loving my mistakes 💙 Experimenting with cyanotype on watercolour board. I love the deep deep blue but oh boy do they take forever to wash clean! I obviously pulled this one out of the soup too early & the dilute chemistry in the paper has re-exposed, making some of the stars pale blue and bleeding beyond my nice brushed edges (love a good hake mark). I suppose I could crop the paper to get rid of the bleed, but although I am a self confessed perfectionist I do love a happy mistake now and then. Probably the nicest cyanotype I’ve made in ages! This will be my first workshop since Covid… sure hope I’ve remembered everything important 🤞🏽 Wish me luck!!

The varnish is drying on our last batch of contact The varnish is drying on our last batch of contact frames for 2022 💫 We nabbed some incredible old timber from a shed clear-out in the Riverland earlier in the year, and it’s been a thrill working with it. Most of this batch are made from old meranti door and window jambs, but there’s a few in bluegum - and one deep purple 11x14 that we think is jarrah. The first sand is my favourite step in making cont The first sand is my favourite step in making contact frames - they transform from rough as guts with glue & putty and gunk all over into something that hints at just how pretty and useful they will be. At this point we’ve already spent many hours on them - sourcing recycled hardwood, cutting and routing the wood into shape, mitering the corners, glueing and clamping, then reinforcing the joins with slots of another hardwood (oak is our fave for that) & rebating the slots for the springs to slide into. There’s still several more grades of sanding to go, then the coats of danish oil. Not to mention making the steel springs and the split backing boards, adding the hinges, gluing the felt and checking the tension. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that we’ve barely been keeping up with backorders for most of the year, but it looks like we are almost ahead! There’s a few in this next batch that haven’t been spoken for yet 😊

Our neighbours are @dmnwrmn of #sticktogalleypress (letterpress) and @tipchick of @unionstprint (printmakers) It’s an all analogue, roll up your sleeves and get messy making space and we Could Not Be More Excited!! Hey Guys! It’s been a while, and although we’v Hey Guys! It’s been a while, and although we’ve been quiet we haven’t been idle. We had high hopes of being able to announce our plans for the not-too-distant future, but there’s been a small out-of-our-control spanner in the works. We are busting to share, as it’s massively exciting, but there’s a bit more waiting patiently, so ... In the meantime we are still keeping the Analogue Love Alive - supplying chemistry & equipment all over Australia and the world. (Kinda surprised you’re all still mad for Cyanotype this far into winter, but we understand the Blue Goo is addictive 💙 A new batch of contact frames is drying in the shed) We’ve also been working on plans for an artist’s residency in the Mid Murray Mallee area. It’s going to be sweeeeeet 👌
